Instructor
Howdy there folks! My name is Rob. If you’ve made it this far, bravo! Let me introduce myself a little. I have taught professionally since 2005 and been a practicing artist since 2000. My first studio was a condemned warehouse in downtown Humboldt, which has since been renovated. After moving around the Midwest during my years as a college art professor and grad student and later living in Asia for 2 years, I moved my studio to Main Street in downtown Humboldt to another building that happened to also be condemned. Go figure! Unbeknownst to me at the time of purchasing the building primarily due to its location, it turns out being the very building my grandparents bought in the 70’s after moving here from Arkansas to start their own business. So it feels like the building is staying in the family, at least for now.
I have been fortunate to work with and be mentored by some amazing artists over the years. I was first taught and mentored by Lee Benson of Union University where I received my Bachelors, then by Shawn Morin and John Balistreri of a Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Three instrumental artists who set me on a path to make a career in the arts.
My wife, Emily, and I have 2 kids and have started a cultural art exchange in China and Korea in 2014. We continue to promote awareness of the reunification of the Korean Peninsula via the arts locally and internationally in the USA, China, North & South Korea.
Check out the reunification campaign One Korea World and join the cause!

That’s it in a nutshell. The rest is saved for the class discussions!
